Most people use “web designer,” “web developer,” and “programmer” interchangeably, but in reality, there is a difference. huge difference between them.

That is not to say that a person cannot possess the three skills, but it is extremely rare.

Also, trying to focus on both will take a lot of effort and time.

Let’s start with the basic one we are all aware of.

Who is a Web designer?

A web designer is one who uses graphic and visual tools to represent a website.

With that being straightened out, let’s go see a programmer.

Who is a programmer?

A programmer is anyone who uses coding languages to give presentations on visual design.

A programmer uses languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and others.

Programming and coding are responsible for the interactiveness of websites.

Executing queries and making sure commands are carried out are all done by programmers.

Now that we have a basic knowledge of who a programmer is, let’s talk about web developers.

Who is a Web developer?

A web developer is the sinister twin of both a programmer and a web designer.

Web developers are responsible for the coding, design, layout, and structure of a website.

Because a web developer serves as the main man in website and web app development, that doesn’t mean they work alone.

They work hand in hand with designers.

Web developers work with reactive programming languages like PHP, MySQL, and ASP.

A great example of this is a website that looks exactly like their mobile applications. Those are work of web developers.

Since we now know what they do, let’s compare them with the questions people always ask.

Below are some questions that help differentiate between a web designer, programmer, and web developer.

If multitasking is not your thing, then try focusing on one.

Neither is superior to the other. If you want to focus on web design, then it is perfectly okay. If not, then being a developer is better.

Both are well paid. The major truth about payment stats isn’t about the job; it has to do with:

  • Tools utilized
  • Services managed

Going to Google and typing “who gets paid more” will give you a result that shows web developers do.

In reality, I have seen web designers make more than developers. But if the average is to be measured, I guess the web developer wins the game.
